Bicycle Headlights Required under Chicago Law.

A white headlight and red rear reflector are required under Chicago and Illinois law.  Bicyclists are practically invisible at night without proper lighting equipment.  This video from the Chicago Department of Transportation really illustrates that point.

If you think the only reason you need a light is to help you see the road you're dead wrong.  Time and time again I see instances where negligent motorists get away with causing damage or injury to a bicyclist simply because the bicyclist didn't have a headlight and the accident occurred at night.

Preserve your rights.  Get a headlight and use it.
